St. Nicholas Orthodox Church

If you know of a local ministry need, let us know! We need people to not only have the idea, but to help get it going.

The parish is always taking non-perishable food item donations, distributed through Mon Valley Youth and Teen Association. Volunteers to help distribute that food are also needed. Money donations to the Charity box go to families in need; clothing items donated go to local shelters and missions.

Once a month, Fr. John encourages parishioners and locals to help clean streets in Donora, restoring a little bit of paradise to our town. Check bulletin & Homepage for cleaning dates.

Though the enrollment is small now, the religious studies continue to be carried on.  Fr. John meets with students during the school year, briefly during coffee hour to teach the faith and answer questions. The program also continues on by holding Sarris candy sale fundraisers for the Easter & Christmas holidays.

Under the able direction of Dr. Dimitri Petro for the past 43 years, the Church Choir continues to sing praises unto God and to beautify the Divine Services with their prayerful responses.  In their ministry of liturgical singing they play a key role in the religious life of St. Nicholas Church.
Founded in 2003, the St. Nicholas Society continues the good works, donations and labors of service to the Church.  Both men and women are members, and the St. Nicholas Society plays a pivotal-significant roll in the life of the parish.  Through piroghi making projects, holiday bake sales and social activities this diverse group currently brings faith and love to our parish. The St. Nicholas Society is under the leadership of Pauline Petro.
Formerly known as the "R" Club, the "O" Club plays an important role in our parish.  The Club has sponsored a Graduate's dinner program for over 50 years to honor the young people of the church.  The Club also sponsors a coffee fellowship hour following the Divine Liturgy every Sunday.  Our chapter #35 is recognized as part of the F.O.C.A. and is lead by current President, Jim Hays.

The OCJ (Orthodox Christian Journal) is a publication of the F.O.C.A. and in it's summer 2012 edition contained an article featuring Fr. Igor.  With permission from the OCJ, we are happy to be able to offer a link to the article for all to enjoy.  Click here to view the article.
