Our Current Pastor

Fr. John Parker began serving at St. Nicholas officially in June of 2019. He graduated in May of 2019 from St. Tikhon's Seminary with a Masters of Divinity degree, as well as having completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) during his second year at St. Tikhon's. Prior to ministry Fr. John studied English Literature and Philosophy at University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, where he was born and raised. He met his wife, Matushka Nadia, while at St. Tikhon's seminary, and they were married before the start of his final year of studies.

Fr. John is excited to be in Donora, and his vision is to re-missionize the area around the Church by getting out and trying to be visible and present in the community, and by reminding people of the hopeful message of the Gospel. He is humbled by the legacy of his predecessor, Fr. Igor, and hopes to be even a fraction of the pastor he was to St. Nicholas. He and Matushka feel warmly received and welcomed by all in the community thus far, and are hoping to make Donora their home for a long time. Fr. John's first priority to is to pray for the people of Donora and the Mon Valley, and to strengthen the faithful in their inner spiritual lives in whatever way he can. Father encourages all who are serious about their faith to prioritize the life of prayer, remembrance of God, and attending the Divine Services and partaking in the Holy Mysteries of Confession and Communion as often as possible.

Father John enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with family, writing poetry, and walking his dog, Echo.

Come visit and worship with us some Sunday, and say hello to Father at coffee hour!
